Gionee Elife S7: First Impressions of Chinese smartphone maker’s flagship phone

Gionee’s Elife S7 is finally in the Indian market. One of the slimmest handsets, and slimmest double SIM handset, it is making headlines for obvious reasons. The handset, flagship from Chinese smartphone maker, is an inexpensive device at just Rs 24,999.

The smartphone that was showcased during the Mobile World Congress 2015 is a sleek looking device, and there are many people who are going to fall for instantly. Despite Xiaomi and OnePlus One hogging all the lime-light, Gionee has seen its stock rise in the Indian market as it offers value for money for the Indian smartphone fans.

These fans are those people who live in rural areas of the country or small towns who don’t want a 2.6 GHz octa core processor, but can make do with a decent processor but with a battery that can last one or two days. And there is no denying the fact that Giaonee handsets do these things beautifully.

gionee-slife-7Gionee’s latst handset is certainly very thin, though not the thinnest in the market. It is as thin as 4.4mm, a lot healthier than the company’s very own Gionee Elife S5.1 that is merely 5.1mm. This is a great looking handset that has been made of magnesium alloy. It comes with metal frame and a glass back. Amazingly the handset’s both front and back are protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The handset is not very huge and at 5.2-inch it comes with the just right size. It is actually smaller than iPhone 6 Plus that comes with 5.5-inch display. It comes with full HD (1,920 x 1,080) AMOLED display that translate into 424ppi pixel density.

The handset comes with Gionee’s new Amigo 3.0 user interface, based on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.

When it comes to camera, the new Gionee smartphone comes with 13MP back camera and 8MP front-facing camera. Reviews suggest that both the cameras give great results. Gionee says it claims 500ms of capture time and 300ms of focus time, which should be very fast.

When it comes to battery the handset comes with 2,700mAh battery. The Chinese company says that it can give you 33 hours and 45 minutes of standby time, but it will be proven over time.

As far as processor is concerned, it comes loaded with MediaTek octa-core processor, each core clocked at 1.7GHz and 2GB RAM. The handset as 16GB internal storage. The downsize is that it has no no option for microSD card slot.
