Gaana.com hacked by a Pakistani hacker: Update
India’s leading music streaming service provider Gaana.com was hacked today by a Pakistani hacker and the site remained down for many hours. Despite the fact that the website was hacked by a known Pakistani hacker based outside Karachi, the Gaana.com guys claimed that the website and its data remained intact and that its more than ten million users data was not compromised.
Gaana is one of the most popular live streaming services in India and Times of India group has done all in its possibility to promote the website and streaming service. There is no denying the fact that Ganaa is the highest promoted such streaming service in the country.
Thus far there has been no apparent reason for the hack. A report says that if a person enters the registered email address of a Gaana.com account, they can have access to their full name, email address, date of birth, MD5-encrypted password, along with Facebook & Twitter profiles as well.
On the other hand the hacker posted the following message “The vulnerable parameter I was using here, has been patched by the Admin. Now the question is, Was this the only vulnerable parameter I had .. ? ;)â€
In the meantime if you are one of the ten million users of the website you are better advised to not just change your password but also temporarily deactivate their account till the problem is solved. If your Gaana account password is same as your Facebook and other passwords, please change all of the at the soonest.
In the meantime, in a statement Times Internet Limited said, “Site is down due to server maintenance. We will be back shortly. Kindly bear with us till thenâ€.
