Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao result: Will ‘Money’ fight Amir Khan of Bolton?
Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao has finally become part of the history. No one thought it was possible and for around seven years both of them resisted efforts to indulge in a fight that will finally decide as to who is the number one boxer of our generation.
At least for four years there was so much excitement about the fight that boxing fans will talk about it and nothing else. For them it was the only topic worth discussing when they talked of boxing. But alas, when it finally materialized, people realized that talking about it was actually far better than having the fight. Post fight it clearly emerged that though they were finally able to force the fighters fight, both the boxers made the whole boxing world fools.
Floyd Mayweather Jr won the fight with a unanimous decision as many thought he will. But the fight never brought the fireworks that was expected from such a high-pitched and the costliest fight. There are indications that the fight might have generated revenue of as much as $500 million, more than the money many poor nations spend on their defence or education in any given year.
But it was never a fight. Both the fighters made more efforts to dodge than to hit that powerful punch that they had promised to use. Manny Pacquiao actually let his fans down by putting one of the worst shows of his entire career. He was the one who was demanding the fight and it was he who was claiming that Mayweather was fearful of him and wanted to avoid the fight.
He never took the fight to Mayweather’s corner and still thought that he had won the fight at the end. He made such a fool of himself. In the meantime Floyd Mayweather Jr. has proved himself as the best boxer of our generation. There is no doubt about it. Now he has left no doubt as far as his superiority over Manny Pacquiao is concerned regardless of the scorecards or Mayweather’s tactics. Manny is finished. His career has ended and he has pocketed more than a million dollar from this fight. He doesn’t need to fight anyone else.
On the other hand people are wondering as to who Manny will take on in his last fight. Now everyone seems to be wondering as to who will be the last fighter to face Mayweather. A report says, “Amir Khan has fought much more often in the US than Brook has, but if Floyd is sticking to his schedule and wants to cap his career off in September then Ramadan will put paid to that. Amir Khan–a Muslim–will not be able to get ready by the time Floyd’s next free diary date comes up, and as much as Khan has begged for the fight he isn’t enough of a star or draw that Floyd is going to change his plans to fight himâ€. So Amir Khan will not get his prized fight as he has been dreaming after Mayweather made it amply clear that he will fight just one this year and hang his boots.
