Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto preview: tickets available, fight time, schedule, live streaming details

If you thought that Floyd Mayweather will attract crowd irrespective of the fact he fights Manny Pacquiao or anyone else, you were wrong. There are reports that merely a day before the fight there are hundreds of vacant seats in the stadium.

Contrast it with the fight a few months ago when asking price for a ticket had gone up to $20000. So it is not just charisma of Floyd Mayweather Jr that attracts thousands of boxing fans to stadiums, but hope for a good fight.

And now when they are no longer expecting a good fight, they are not ready to shell out the dollars to watch a dud take place.

There is no denying the fact that Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto fight has failed to attract the attention of boxing fans. So the lack of interest in the fight shows that be it Mayweatehr or anyone else, if they cannot ensure a great game, they cannot expect to attract boxing fans.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto may turn out to be the last fight of the top pound for pound boxer’s career. On this coming Saturday night, Mayweather will be fighting the sixth and last fight of the six-fight contract. Nonetheless what is amazing is the fact that the grand finale of one of the most prolific boxers in the sport’s history is looking like a dud that no one was expecting.

Now people are questioning the selection of his opponents in the ring. Some have accused him of willfully selecting lighter opponents so he is able to beat them without much of an effort. A report in the Bleacher has this to say, “Here is Mayweather, who has made a career of publicly building up lesser opponents before tearing them down inside the ring, letting the process take care of itself. That Mayweather would walk away by taking more than $100 million off his payday seems at odds with his public persona. It may, however, fall right in line with the strategic planning of his career”.

While writing in the Guardian, ace sports analyst Lou Catalano says, “But both groups (those who love and loathe Mayweather) have had one key element in common over the past decade or so: they all have purchased his fights, against guys he handpicked, because Mayweather does whatever he wants…And with that, he’s become one of the rarest species in a sport that most often swallows men whole: a boxer who can call it quits on his terms, against whom he decides.”

But the lack of interest in his last fight seems to be a scar on his otherwise excellent boxing career.
