There are rumors and there are more rumors. To be true the whole boxing world is now looking forward to see them fight each other. Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao next fight may be in New York City in 2014. It will be a dream fight for the boxing world. But are they going to take people’s demand really seriously.

Money Mayweather might next land his punch on the financial capital of the world, hints Stephen Espinoza, the Showtime Sports boss who inked Mayweather to a blockbuster six-fight deal in February.

After battering Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in September and earning a whopping amount that totals more than $80 million, Mayweather created a stir in media by telling a Michigan reported that he is lokoing forward to “next week”. While no news of any imminent fight has yet been announced, boxing fight deals do come together quickly. Mayweather, very recently quipped to a reporter, “Next week. I’m looking forward to next week.”

This has led the boxing world spinning as to where the next Mayweather fight would be scheduled, and against whom. Suppositions are rife, but the most probable is New York, being a financial hub of the world.

Stephen Espinoza refused to confirm a fight next week, saying, “I’d be very surprised [by an announcement]. I think it is more likely happening in the New Year.”

He added, “Mayweather is very conscious of wanting to go out with a bang. The Canelo fight was the first one of those. He wants each of these last fights to be huge memorable events. One way to do that is switch up the venue.”

Mayweather has fought his last ten fights in Las Vegas. Out of these, eight straight fights have been hosted at the MGM Grand. Vegas is a favourite destination to host boxing fights as it can support sky high ticket prices, often bought by the casinos for their high-rollers. Gamblers in town for the weekend often pay as much as $1,000 for a ticket. His last “The One” match cost $2,000, $1500, $1,000, $600 and $350 and set a record for the gate with $20 million.

New York is another viable option because Courtside seats at Madison Square Garden cost $3,600 for each of the 41 regular season game for the 5-13 Knicks. Reports show that the 5-14 Brooklyn Nets charge $1,500 at the Barclays, the center of the boxing world Saturday night.

Espinoza said about this venue, “New York is one of few places that could help elevate a Mayweather fight even more than it already is. Floyd is intrigued by being the biggest and the best and being a trailblazer. Coming into the New York market in a way that no one has before would be very appealing.”
