Facebook to host full news stories, goes to extreme length to please publishers
If Facebook is successful in its most recent plan, it will completely beat Google news in the days to come. There are reports that the biggest social networking platform is working hard to woo publications. It is going out of its way to attract publishers like New York Times, National Geographic and many others.
And there are reasons to believe that the big publications are already falling to the lure of the huge number of readership that can come thanks to association with the social networking giant with billion pus active users.
There are reports that in the coming weeks and months Facebook users may be able to read full New York Times, Buzzfeed, and National Geographic articles besides many others and even watch videos on their feed later this month as the social media platform is in talks with publications to introduce the new feature which will be called, ‘Instant Articles.’
The talks are in very advance stage and a report in The Verge says that Facebook is offering two schemes to woo publications. The first scheme will let publications to keep all ad revenue from articles posted on Facebook if the sites themselves sell the ads. If Facebook sells the ads then, it will keep 30 percent of the revenue for itself. This is going to be very attractive proposition and may make Facebook a very long term internet player.
