Earthquake today in New Delhi: Tremors felt in Pakistan, Afghanistan and North India
NEW DELHI: Powerful tremors were felt at around 12:50 midnight in the Indian capital New Delhi and other areas of North India. People rushed out of their homes in the cold winter night fearing for their lives.
Thankfully the earthquake with its epicenter near Afghanistan-Tajikistan border hasn’t caused any damage (at least till the time of this report going to press).
In the meantime reports suggest that the earthquake was of 6.2 magnitude with its epicenter at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border.
Latest reports suggest that the location of the earthquake was 81 km southeast of Feyzabad in Afghanistan, reported seismological monitors. The US Geological Survey reported the earthquake had a depth of 203.5 kilometres. Tremors were reported from Chandigarh, Jaipur, Delhi and the National Capital Region in India.
Meanwhile the police in the Indian capital tweeted to say there have not been any calls reporting any damage or casualty as yet.
