Eagles of Death Metal band suffers one casualty in Paris: Nick Alexander among the dead
Eagles of Death Metal band faced its biggest test just the other day when several terrorists wielding semi-automatic weapons and wearing explosive belts entered Paris’ Bataclan and killed more than hundred people. Many more were injured and several of them are struggling for their lives.
It was a night of horror that no one had anticipated. The city was hosting a major football match pitting France against arch rivals Germany. With Parisâ€™ night life in full flow, many people who were in the attendance at Paris’ Bataclan thought that the sounds of fire that came as terrorists made their way inside the place as part of the program. The same is also said about other places where terrorists created havoc, killing people and exploding the explosive belts they were wearing.
Eagles of Death Metal band members were on a long and well orchestrated European true. They are actually not a death metal band. Eagles of Death Metal is an American rock band from Palm Desert, California, formed in 1998 by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, who are the only permanent members of the band. Nonetheless Homme is not very regular with his own band. He rarely plays live shows because of commitments to other bands.
Eagles of Death Metal November 13 concert in Paris was just another show till the terrorists entered the arena. First there were reports that the members of the rock band were among the hostages. But later it was revealed later that no member of the band was among the hostages.
Their fans were also frantically searching for any news about the band as they were concerned for their safety. While no member of the band was killed, Nick Alexander, who was working as Eagles of Death Metal’s merchandise table, was killed in the terror attack on Paris’ Bataclan.
Latest reports suggest that Nick Alexander, who worked Eagles of Death Metal’s merchandise table during the group’s European tour, was among the 118 people killed in the terror attack at Paris’ Bataclan, Alexander’s family confirmed in a statement. He was 36.
In a press release, his family announced his death. â€œIt is with huge sorrow that we can confirm that our beloved Nick lost his life at the Bataclan last night. Nick was not just our brother, son and uncle; he was everyone’s best friend â€“ generous, funny and fiercely loyalâ€¦Nick died doing the job he loved and we take great comfort in knowing how much he was cherished by his friends around the world. Thank you for your thoughts and respect for our family at this difficult time. Peace and lightâ€, his family said.
