Shimla: A five days workshop cum training on “Development and Implementation of Indian Forestry Research Information System (IFRIS)” – Long Term Information Technology (IT) Vision from 29th September to 3rd October, 2008 is scheduled to held at Himalayan Forest Research Institute (HFRI), Shimla. About forty forest officers, scientists and IT experts from various parts of the country i.e., Jorhat (Assam), Coimbatore, Bangalore, Jabalpur, Jodhpur, Delhi, Dehradun and Shimla will participate in the workshop asÂ informed Dr. Vijender Panwar, Organizing Secretary of the workshop.
Mohinder Pal, Director, HFRI said that the Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE), Dehra Dun is the only organization under the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India, which has taken up this prestigious e-Governance project for effective, transparent, user-friendly, responsive and speedy system of managingÂ the information, in the country.Â He thanked Jagdish Kishwan, IFS, Director General, ICFRE and Dr. Harish Sharma, Project Manager for selecting Shimla Institute as a Pilot for Roll out of IFRIS in the country.
Dr. Harish Shrama, arrived yesterday Shimla for necessary arrangements and participation in the workshop informed that twelve IFRIS e-Governance modules on Research Management Information System (RMIS), Forestry Extension Information System (FEIS), Forestry Education and Grant Management System (FEGMS), Digital Library Information System (DLIS), Climate Change Management System (CCMS), Scientific Service Management Systems (SSMS), Online Publication Information System (OPIS), Student Information Management System (SIMS), Financial Accounting System (FAS), Personal Information and Pay Roll Management System (PIMS), Document Management System (DMS), Audit and Vigilance Management System (AVMS) and Procurement, Inventory and Estate Management System; will be presented, discussed and finalized for the Pilot Roll Out of IFRIS from HFRI Shimla afterÂ this workshop.
