Dr Riaz Ahmadreceives ‘Teacherâ€™s Excellence Award’
Aligarh: Dr Riaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University has been recently conferred with the â€˜Teacherâ€™s Excellence Awardâ€™ in the category of Innovative Teaching and Learning Practices by the Confederation of Education Excellence at a Teacherâ€™s Day summit held at the Piccadily Hotel, Janakpuri, New Delhi.
Dr Ahmad has been awarded for his achievements in the area of Biochemical and Clinical Genetics. He was recently researching on drug discovery against a deadly disease, liver fibrosis.
The award was presented by the Chief Guest Dr Purshotam Lal (Padma Vibhushan, Chairman & Director of Interventional Cardiology of the Metro Group of Hospitals), Dr John Kaunhaus (USA) and Prof Mahesh Vyas (Gujrat Ayurveda University). The award ceremony was followed by a Summit on Vedic Education: A paradigm shift which was attended by more than two hundred delegates from all over India.
Earlier, Dr Ahmad was awarded a research project by the Council of Science & Technology (Uttar Pradesh) to work on the plausible role of trans 3,4-5′-trihydroxystilbene (usually derived from red grapes) during progression of hepatic fibrosis.
Meanwhile, Dr Ahmadâ€™s research group has been actively engaged in discovering novel biomarkers and system-friendly drugs in order to provide better cure and management of the pathology.
