Dr Amjad Ali attends and chair session of National Conference
Aligarh: The Acting Librarian of the Aligarh Muslim University, Dr Amjad Ali recently attended and chaired a session of the â€˜National Conference on Emerging Trends in Libraries and Librarianshipâ€™ organized by the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in collaboration with the â€˜Advance Research Publicationâ€™ (ADR).
Dr Amjad confirmed that a National Society/ Association for Librarians has been registered after the event in JNU.
Abhishek Shukla, Chairman, MD and CEO ADR Publications; Shalini Agnihotri, Founder, Director and COO, ADR Publications; Dr Jugal Kishore, Head and Professor, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital and Amar Kasurde, Director, Apex Subscriptions Pvt. Ltd along with dignitaries from all over the country were present in the event.
Dr Amjad received formal education at the Aligarh Muslim University and worked as founding librarian of the prestigious Mass Communication Research Centre at the Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi for more than ten years. Dr Amjad was in charge of the Library Resource and Documentation Unit at the Centre. He has also worked on a foreign assignment as an Information Specialist with the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudia Arabia. He has also been engaged as an academic counselor with the IGNOU.
The author of more than a dozen books and 30 research papers on applications of Information Technology in academic libraries, Dr Amjad is a also guide for Ph.D in Library Science in a reputed Indian University. He is also an elected Council Member of the â€˜Indian Library Association and also the chairman of its Sectional Committee for Oriental Libraries.
Dr Amjad joined Aligarh Muslim University as the Deputy Librarian in 1993.
