Dr Adeeb Alam bags best paper award at 7th National CME on Eye Banking

Aligarh: Dr Adeeb Alam Khan, Associate Professor, Institute of Ophthalmology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University and in-charge of the University’s Eye Bank recently bagged the ‘best paper’ award at the 7th National CME on Eye Banking held at the Le-Meridian, New Delhi.

His paper, ‘Deterrence and Perceptions towards Eye Donation in Hospital Visiting Population’, which was widely appreciated was awarded in the ‘free paper category.’

Stalwarts from the field of eye banking attended the programme, which took place to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of ‘Eye Bank Association, India’.

Detailed deliberations on roadblocks in eye donation and utilization of donor cornea took place in the programme.

“Since January 2006, Eye Bank of the Institute of Ophthalmology, AMU has been working to eradicate corneal blindness in and around Aligarh,” said Dr Khan, who added that the Institute of Ophthalmology has requested AMU administration to provide a financial assistance worth 20-25 lakh for purchasing ‘Specular Microscope’ and an ambulance purely dedicated for Eye bank.
