Directory of Scholarships released
ALIGARH: Brigadier S. Ahmad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University released a â€œDirectory of Scholarshipsâ€ which has been published by the Dean, Studentsâ€™ Welfare, AMU.
Addressing on the occasion, Brig. Ali appreciated the move by the DSW saying it was an assiduous compilation of the financial assistance available at the Aligarh Muslim University for meritorious and deserving students. He said that the Aligarh Muslim University has always aspired to make available to its students various scholarships, fellowships, aid to students, stipends and other financial support schemes in order to assist needy and deserving students to achieve their goals.
In his message, the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah said that the financial initiatives undertaken by the University for its students were meant for motivating the students achieve greater heights and excel in their life. He said that number of students and donorsâ€™ scholarships continued to grow every year. However, the University had a very efficient mechanism of providing incentives and encouragement to students to work harder and exploit the opportunities to the maximum.
Gen. Shah thanked the alumni and other well-wishers for extending support to the University in furthering the cause of social and educational upliftment of deserving students. He said that the University has instituted various scholarships with the help of alumni, which would be beneficial to students. He however underlined the need for more to do in this regard and urged the alumni and well-wishers to come forward and associate themselves with these assistance initiatives for students.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Dean, Studentsâ€™ Welfare, Prof. Anis Ismail said that the Directory of scholarships was meant to provide consolidated course-wise and faculty-wise information about various scholarships and financial assistance initiatives available in the University for the benefit of students. He said that the office of the DSW coordinated the various welfare schemes and financial assistance programes which include merit cum means scholarships, fellowships, stipends, aid to students and financial assistance.
Prof. Ismail said that special efforts had been made to provide complete information with respect to various awards and the Directory was meant for wider circulation among students.
On this occasion, a Roza Iftar was also organized. AMU Registrar Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, Finance Officer Dr. S. M. Javed Akhtar, Proctor Dr. Mohd. Asif Khan, Deputy DSWs and Assistant DSWs were present.
