Devotees flock to Maa Bala Sundari Temple, Trilokpur in Himachal

Nahan: The ancient temple and famous shrine Maa Bala Sundari Trilokpur in Himachal has set a record in the number of devotees visited the temple as well as the offerings by the devotees to temple. With 18 ancient coins devotees offered 1 crore, 5 lakh and eighty seven thousand, 89 gram gold and 18.23 kilogram silver to temple during  the recent Navratra fair. However, more than 5 lakh devotees visited the temple during the fair. The temple trust was not expecting the income of more than 1.5 crore as well as massive number of devotees. The temple was built by Raja Dip Parkash in 1573. Legend Speaks of the Devi’s “pindi” (a sacred stone, regarded as a symbol of the goddess) had appeared in a bag of salt, purchased by a local trader. The temple was renovated by Maharaja Fateh Prakash in 1823 and by Maharaja Raghubir Prakash in 1851.

The temple of Maa Bala sundari located on the boundary of Haryana is famous in North India where the devotees from 4-5 neighboring states often visit the temple especially during the NAVARTRA fairs twice in a year. Few years back the temple trust had taken the decision to develop the place in hill architecture the result of which have coming on the surface. Around two years back the temple trust had dared to take the decision of melting of silver for the wall coatings of the main temple. For the purpose Temple trust s utilized the silver material to the tune of 7 Quintal, received in offerings to the Goddess. In view of its charitable activities, the Trust has planned for constructing an “OLD AGE HOME” having estimated cost of about Rs.Two Crore with a provision of about 50 people with all medical & residential basic facilities. The foundation stone has been laid. Deputy Commissioner and chairpersons of Trilokpur temple trust says the trust has proposed a master plan for Village Trilokpur wherein a provision of dedicated sewerage system, road, lighting system and land scaping shall be made and was trying its best to provide basic amenities to the pilgrims visiting shrine at Trilokpur. On the other hand Tehisldar Balbir Garg, who was on duty during the fair, said that a record was set during the recent fair and added that income of the trust crossed 1.5 crore from all sources.
