Who won UFC 191? Â Demetrious Johnson vs John Dodson 2 full fight highlight, why Johnson is best pound for pound (pfp) fighter
Demetrious Johnson has once again strengthened over trust in him. The lanky UFC fighter who is now taken as the best pound for pound fighter at the moment not just won the fight, he won the fight in style.
Many people were claiming that John Dodson will beat him this time as he seemed to be in great form recently winning his last three fights rather easily. Dodson had called Johnson garbage.
Nonetheless if anyone thought that Demetrious Johnson was a run of the mill type fighter, he was mistaken. He is made of a completely different stuff and he has an innate advantage of absorbing powerful blows and waiting for his time. When his time comes he simply destroys his opponent’s defenses.
Many top UFC fighters too don’t have this ability. They win on the strength of their offensive. Most of them come with no trait to absorb blows, strikes and beatings. But obviously Demetrious Johnson is a completely different man and he never disappoints his fans.
NVONews had predicted in a column yesterday that Demetrious Johnson was set to retain the title as he has advantages that his opponent doesn’t possesses.
Final results showed Demetrious Johnson unanimously outpointing John Dodson on Saturday night at UFC 191 to retain the flyweight title. Johnson (23-2) received winning scores of 49-46, 49-46 and 50-45 from the judges. Dodson dropped to 17-7. The fight was a rematch between the two lightning fast fighters, with Johnson winning the first bout by unanimous decision.
Johnston tried to be aggressive this time and he got early advantage in the first round. Then he tried the same for much of the first round, with Dodson trying to maintain his range and keep his distance. Neither fighter landed any significant early strikes. Dodson knew that without keeping the range he had no chance. Once on the mat and everything was almost finished.
In the second round, when Johnson tried his most successful trick, takedown, Dodson defended it well and later he against his takedowns. But then he ran out of luck.
As far as the fourth round is concerned, Johnson’s momentum continued and he was able to land powerful combinations with consistency. By the end of the fourth, Dodson’s offense had slowed, his nose was bloodied and his face was beginning to swell. And as they say the rest was history after a rather very easy fifth round.
Following the win, a very pleased looking Johnson said, “I’m a hard worker and I love working for what I have…Dodson said I was garbage, but look at my face. I’m still pretty. That’s what good technique will get you.â€
