Daylight Savings Time 2015 (DST), spring forward is here: Should we do away with it

Daylight Savings Time is here again and people are preparing to face all the same old issues that they face year after year at this time.

This year the Daylight Savings Time is beginning much earlier than previous years. To be true it will be three weeks too early for the Daylight Savings Time and there are apprehensions among many people that it is going to create some confusion that may even derail their schedule for sometimes.

You need to prepare yourself for the Daylight Savings Time that actually begins on March 8. At sharp 2 a.m. Sunday, you need to turn the clock one hour forward. Except three US states and territories, almost the entire country religiously follows the Daylight Savings Time that makes us move our clocks forward or backward.

daylight savings timeThis is called in US as “springs forward”. This is a dated energy-saving measure whose efficacy and usefulness has been questioned time and again by experts. It is in place since the year 1966 when the Uniform Time Act was implemented.

Daylight savings time is beginning today and we are expected to do this once again almost as a religious duty. To be true a religious duty is not felt necessary by many of us to follow, but if we don’t really do this we are going to look stupid at every place as we will be turning late for every schedule.

Many people don’t really like the idea of moving forward their watches and then moving it backward. The opposition against it is building and now people usually say that this useless practice must be done away with. People suggest that the idea has lost its relevance in today’s world when energy is no longer an issue and United States of America is all set to start exporting not just gas but even oil to other energy starved nations. As

There are also studies that make it apparent that changing clocks back and forth to Daylight Saving Time twice a year seems to be bad for human health — from increased risk of heart attack to more mine accidents. Nevertheless, in 2007, the U.S. Congress saw fit to extend Daylight Saving Time‘s reign from earlier in spring to deeper into fall in 2007. So there is a need to actually scrap this practice right away.
