Lady Gaga’s homage to the inimitable David Bowie is going viral since the performance Monday night due to the controversy it has generated.
An English singer David Bowie passed away on January 10 last month. He was a consummate singer, songwriter and musician, who also worked as an actor, record producer and arranger. He was a figure in popular music for over five decades, and was considered by critics and musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s and 1980s.
The man who looked very different at different stages in his life, sold an estimated 140 million records worldwide. In the UK, he was awarded nine platinum album certifications, eleven gold and eight silver, and released eleven number-one albums. In the US, he received five platinum and seven gold certifications. There are not many artists who can parallel his popularity and long acceptance by worldwide audience.
In the meantime after memorializing Bowie with a tattoo on her ribcage, Gaga took to the Grammys stage, channeling the rock chameleon in a Ziggy Stardust-inspired ensemble and performing a medley of the pioneer’s hits, including Space Oddity, Changes, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragette City, Rebel Rebel, Fashion, Fame, Under Pressure, Let’s Dance and Heroes.
