D’Angelo Russell’s Nick Young video shocks Los Angeles Lakers fans: point guard tenders apology
Los Angeles Lakers’ rookie point guard D’Angelo Russell has said he is extremely disappointed of himself for recording a video of Nick Young discussing the women in his life other than his fiancé rapper Iggy Azalea. He said he is feeling sick of himself.
The video was leaked recently and since then the video is going viral on social media and search engines. Many Los Angeles Lakers players have expressed shock over the irresponsible behavior of D’Angelo Russell.
While talking to Vertical earlier today he said, “I am sick…I am sorry about recording the video. I can’t repeat myself enough on that: I am sorry I recorded that video. I feel horrible. I wish this never happened.”
He went on to add, “I feel as sick as possible…I wish I could make things better right away, but I can’t.” he further said he had “no clue” how the video leaked and became public, and that he has been trying to figure out how the video got out. He said that he never sent it to anyone, but balked at the notion he may have been hacked…Only time can make this really go away…If I’ve lost anybody’s trust, I’m gonna work my tail off to get it back.”
20-year old Russell was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. On July 10, 2015, he signed his rookie scale contract with the Lakers and went on to average 11.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in five Summer League games. He made his debut for the Lakers in the team’s season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 28, recording 4 points and 3 rebounds in a 112–111 loss.
Now he says he has no idea how the video was leaked. The controversy began when Russell recorded what appeared to be private conversation between him and Young. The video was later leaked by a gossip site. In the video, Young appears to confess to having a relationship with another woman. In a longer version of the video posted by another site, Russell says “I’m glad you told my video all that.” Russell told the Vertical that pranks were a part of his relationship with Young, who is 30 and 10 years his senior. He said he underestimated “bigger consequences” that could come of his actions.
