In the final moments of the second semi-final of the Confederations Cup 2013, many people were on the verge of being heartbroken when Italy were matching every step of the World champions Spain. Spain were almost beaten in the first half of the match, but Italy failed to convert all their attacks into goal till the fulltime and extra time was over.
It is needless to say that Spain too were unable to score a single goal against the Italy who were playing as a rock solid team and didn’t allow an inch for the Spain to penetrate in their defences. Italy had improved their match to such a level that they looked like playing a perfect soccer, nothing could have been better than that and they were able to match every step of a better side –in the world ranking –throughout the hard fought match.
But the final promises to be anything better than the second semifinal match played between Spain and Italy. Now world’s top two teams will be taking on each other. Both the teams are in impeccable form and have remained unbeaten throughout the match. The match is also being awaited as two different soccer styles will be vying for supremacy today. While Brazil use aggression to win soccer matches, Spain play in a very technical style.
There is no doubt that Spain are the favourite for the match as they are the most dominant national team in recent years and the most successful team. They are the winners of FIFA Soccer world cup and European Championship. It will be the first meeting between the nations since 1999 and their first competitive match since Brazil’s 1-0 win on Socrates’ goal in the first round of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Brazilian star player Neymar says that even though Spain may be better side, but they are more than ready to face the. “It’s the match everyone wanted to happen…The entire world wanted it and everybody will be watching it.”
Reports suggest that around 75000 spectators will be packed in the stadium to watch the final. It is the final fight for the supremacy before the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2013 in Brazil itself. It is being said that if Spain beat Brazil in this game, they will win next year’s soccer world cup. Thiago Silva, the Brazilian captain says he knows Spain are agreat side, but he has enough ace up his sleeves. “They are the current world champions, they have to be praised…But anything can happen in a final, and I’m certain that Brazil will be fully prepared for the matchup”.
