Chandigarh: In keeping with the directions of the Central TB Division, New Delhi, the Chandigarh Heath Administration, in collaboration with PGIMER, is organizing a two-day workshop on Operational Research (OR) on tuberculosis on June 6, 2009 at Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector-16, to review the guidelines/ projects etc. On June 7, the workshop shift to the PGIMER to deliberate upon the research projects to control tuberculosis, and evolve effective diagnosis and treatment of the multi-drug resistant (MDR) and TB-HIV patients, Dr. S.K. Jindal, Prof. & Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, PGIMER-cum-Chairman, Zonal OR Committee. North Zone, Chandigarh, said here today.
The workshops will be attended by consultants engaged in research on TB at Medical College of North Zone, including Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, H.P, J&K, Delhi, UP and Uttaranchal.Â Â About 50 delegates will deliberate on innovative methods and Operation Research in the field of tuberculosis, said Dr. Manjit Singh Bains, Mission Director, National Rural Health Mission, Chandigarh.
Such a workshops on OR will lead to settlement of various queries and answers some addressed and unaddressed questions and issues pertaining to diagnosis and treatment. Operational Research Workshops can also lead to improvement in programme implementation by evaluating interventions like slum intervention in Chandigarh, monitoring activities and adjusting policy based on data driven decisions.
