‘Cecil the lion’ killed: Will Walter Palmer, the lion hunter be extradited to Zimbabwe as pressure mounts
Dr. Walter Palmer is being hounded by animal lovers who have been protesting against him for killing â€˜Ceil the lionâ€™ in Zimbabwe. There is a groundswell of support for his prosecution for killing the very popular lion with bows and arrows.
Reports suggest that hundreds of people who came visiting his clinic to express their opposition against the killing of the popular animal brought stuffed animals. So many cards and stuffed animals are scattered in front of his clinic that it is not hard to find the hatred that the killing of â€˜Cecil the lionâ€™ has generated among animal lovers.
There is no denying the fact that Cecil was hold great attraction among many international visitors to the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.
In the meantime reports suggest that Federal authorities in the United States have actually started an investigation Thursday into the killing of a beloved lion in Zimbabwe.
Dr. Walter Palmer is known as trophy hunter who reportedly killed the huge lion with bow and arrows after paying as much as $50000 to people who helped him kill the beast. Reports suggest that Cecil was allegedly lured out of the Hwange National Park boundaries with a dead animal as bait. In the meantime two people have been arrested by Zimbabwean authorities in aiding the killing.
US government in the meantime has launched investigation in the case. “The US Fish & Wildlife Service is investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing of Cecil the lion,” said Edward Grace, deputy chief of law enforcement at the agency.
Officials have said that Dr. Walter Palmer was unreachable. “Multiple efforts to contact Dr Walter Palmer have been unsuccessfulâ€¦We ask that Dr Palmer or his representative contact us immediatelyâ€, ,” Grace added.
