California wildfires latest news, updates: thousands of people evacuated, dozens of homes burnt
California wildfires 2015 seem to be intensifying. Latest reports suggest that the raging fire is forcing thousands and thousands of panicked residents to flee their homes seeking safer areas.
Latest reports suggest that fires are destroying homes, offices and ranches in the area. The fires are spreading at blazing pace and this is forcing even larger number of people to abandon their homes and flee before it is too late. Hundreds of firefighters are battling the raging fires in northern California at the moment, but there was no sign that the wildfire will be contained anytime soon.
On the other hand latest reports suggest that as many as four firefighters have been hospitalized with second-degree burns in the last forty-eight hours alone.
Meanwhile reports claim that the so-called Valley Fire in Lake County, northwest of Sacramento, also erupted and it is spreading through the localities pretty fast. Several years of draught has ensured that the parched trees will burn at the slightest fire.
Officials have claimed that the fire is spreading unimaginably fast. It has spread from 400 acres just before 4 p.m. (7 p.m. ET) Saturday, to 40,000 acres at 1:30 a.m. (4:30am ET) Sunday. This has forced the officials to take extreme precautionary measures and now people along a 35-mile stretch of highway have been ordered to evacuate homes and offices.
Meanwhile Fire Department has cancelled all leaves and has called all Cal Fire personnel to report to duty, canceling any previously scheduled days off, as thirteen fires raged across the state. Nonetheless there was some faint hope too. The fire’s fast spread reportedly slowed overnight Saturday and it only grew by about 200 acres, but was still burning more than 100 square miles near the tree-studded Sierra Nevada. Till now the fire has consumed 86 homes, and there are reports that it may burn as many as 6400 other buildings.
