Ekta Kapoor is not happy and Akshay Kumar is disappointed with bBox office collection report.  Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara (Again) vs Chennai Express comparison is sort of unfortunate

In the recent spate of incidents bringing forth the fact about how miffed Ekta Kapoor is with the failure of her latest outing Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara, it has been revealed that she had reportedly refused to let Shah Rukh Khan watch the movie at his home.

Shahrukh Khan who is the member of the cinema-viewing club that allows every member to watch a movie one night in advance after taking the permission of the producer of the film, was declined by Ekta Kapoor. Sources have revealed that the fiery Kapoor girl rather sent the message that SRK should watch the movie in the theatre like a regular cine-goer.

Looking at the way things have turned against OUATIMD, it seems that its fate was decided. Firstly TV czarina Ekta Kapoor had to postpone the release of the film as the dates were clashing with Chennai Express and secondly the film starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role got less number of screens as compared to the record breaking, Chennai Express.

Also the fact that “Chennai Express”, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, continued to do well at the theatres even after weeks into its release largely affected the collections of OUATIMD.

It is said that the makers of Chennai Express had promised to vacate some screens once Ekta Kapoor’s movie was to be released on Independence Day. However in the absence of this, OUATIMD ended up with mere 1600 screens. Had UTV lived up to its promise, OUATIMD could have raked in about Rs 10 crore more on its opening day which in turn might have had a Domino effect on its subsequent collections.

On the other hand there is euphoria among Shah Rukh Khan fans across the world as Khan’s movie Chennai Express has crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. And the way it is going strong in India many analysts claim that this can be the first movie to hit Rs 250 crore mark, if not Rs 300 crore mark. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukune film is set to beat Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiot in a matter of hours now. Three Idiots, one of the best movies made in India had collected RS 202 crore at the box office in the country. Made with a cost of Rs 35 crore, 3 Idiot’s collection was as high as Rs 202.57 crore in India while its overseas collection was almost as much as its Indian collection. The overseas collection of 3 Idiots stood at US$26 million including US$6,532,874 in United States alone. So things are definitely very exciting for King Khan and not Khiladi Kumar.
