Bobbi Kristina Brown latest update: How much Whitney Houston daughter’s medication has cost, who is paying bills?

Bobbi Kristina Brown is attracting lots of attention while she is on life support at a hospital in Georgia. For more than four months Whitney Houston’s daughter remains unresponsive and unmovable despite the best of the best medication that is available anywhere in the US.

She was treated for close to two months at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, from where she was taken by her family to a long term rehab facility when doctors told them she cannot be cured. They are reported to have told Bobbi Kristina Brown’s father and maternal aunt besides her grandma Cissy Houston that the girl cannot be revived, though she can be kept on life support without any improvement for as long as she is kept.

Now it seems that they were very true. The girl has remained in the same condition without even the slightest improvement till now. Her grandmother in an interview a couple of weeks ago said that her granddaughter has suffered permanent brain damage and that she cannot be cured now.

How much her treatment is costing to her family? We knew that it was huge and that the family must have spent a couple of hundreds of thousands of dollars till now, but a report makes it all the more clear. A report by TheWrap tries to reach a rough estimate in this regard. While quoting Paul Hughes-Cromwick, of the Center for Sustainable Health Spending at the Altarum Institute he says that the financial cost is huge.

He goes on to add that it’s impossible to determine how much her health insurance plan might cover. “While “a hospital might have a rate on a regular day of $1,000 or $2,000,” Hughes-Crowmick said, the cost was likely much higher in Brown’s case. Reuters reported that Brown was kept on a ventilator until late February. According to the National Institutes of Health, ventilator care generally runs about $6,700 to $10,800 for the first day, decreasing from there”, says the report.

He further told theWraps, “It could be the case where they have to pay full charges just because they’re famous and they’re supposed to have a lot of money…And maybe they don’t have an insurance plan that has done this kind of negotiating with the provider.” According to him a 60-day hospital stay would start somewhere between and $60,000 and $120,000. He further says that stay at the rehabilitation facility so far could conceivably have a price tag in the $165,000 range after about 11 weeks.

Nonetheless there are chances that Whitney Houston actually got her daughter a good insurance policy that covers most of such expenses. In that case the expenses will be very low.
