The Canadian smartphone manufacturer seems to be in some thinking mood. After extremely poor second quarter results, the company has realised that it needs to do something to come out of the financial nadir where it is finding itself. Its handsets despite being much more improved than its previous versions have failed to enthuse the market and people are not finding them very competitive. Another important aspect of these new BlackBerry handset is the fact that these are extremely costly, much more than the handsets that come with far better specifications and features.

While BlackBerry Z10 is available in the market for as high as Rs 41000, a much more impressive handset Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is available in the market for just around Rs 27000 and Google’s Nexus 4 is available for just around Rs 22000. With even matching or lower specifications not many people are ready to fall for BlackBerry Z10.

But now the company is trying to attract customers in the Indian market with some rather good offers. The Canadian company has launched one month-long programme allowing users to trade their older mobiles for the newest model Z10 and get heavy discounts as high as Rs 11,000. This seems some good market strategy. But to get really good response in the market the company needs to slash its price to around Rs 30000.

A top BlackBerry official while talking about the latest offer exclusive to Indian customers said, “Customers across 17 cities will get discount of up to Rs 11,000 if they buy BlackBerry Z10 under this scheme. We have given reference rates to dealers for existing BlackBerry users willing to shift to BlackBerry Z10”.
