The market is going to get very competitive in the days to come. Yet to be launched BlackBerry 10 handset Z10 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 specs comparison makes very interesting reading

Recent floods of rumors suggest that a full touchscreen phone called the Z10 is going to be the first handset on BlackBerry 10 OS. The new version of the BlackBerry mobile OS is round the corner. RIM is to officially launch it late January. By then, the Canadian mobile firm might release the new handset along with a few other models. Anyway, here we take the chance to compare the rumored specs of BlackBerry Z10 with Samsung’s Galaxy S3, the most successful Android phone in stores.

Hardware
The new BlackBerry phone is rumored to come with a 4.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels at 356-ppi. Compared to the screen size of the new row of high-end Android phones, it is much smaller. The S3 itself touts a 4.8-inch larger display. But, its new upgrade is to come with a 5-inch display like all other newly announced phones for the year.

But, BlackBerry has chosen a small form for the rumored first phone of BlackBerry OS. Galaxy S3 makes use of Samsung’s new Super AMOLED display for better clarity and vividness. It packs the same screen resolution of the Z10 that naturally has better pixel density. The Samsung phone has a density of 306-ppi, because of its wider display.

Beneath the cover, both the handsets have better specs for good performance. As per rumors, the BlackBerry phone will mount a dual Core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470 processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 chipset. It will be boosted by 2GB of RAM, recent leaks say. It is when Galaxy S3 is up with a 1.4GHz Exynos 4412 Quad chip (Cortex-A9), 1GB RAM and Mali-400MP graphical card for stable performance.

The Z10 is said to tout 16GB of internal memory. Plus, it will have a hot swappable microSD slot for storage expansion. Meanwhile, the Samsung phone is available in all essential memory capacities; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It also has microSD slot for memory expansion. Both the devices mount 8MP rear cameras with 1080p video recording capability. They also have 2MP front cameras (S3’s cam is a 1.9MP one) for neat video chats. The BB phone is hoped to pack an 1800mAh removable battery against S3’s powerful 2100 mAh battery.

Software & Connectivity
Operating system is one of things that put the device at two ends. The Z10, as noted above, is going to be the first handset on BlackBerry 10 OS. It is the upcoming upgrade to the company’s famous BlackBerry OS. The software is to highlight too many specialties and features that can put it as a stiff rival to Android and iOS, RIM thinks. RIM is actually dreaming of a comeback to the mobile market through the new software. Anyway, BB 10 is to have a range of new features that include a revamped Flow interface, a new intelligent keyboard, a fresh camera app and more.

The Galaxy S3 came to market in May 2012 with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It was later upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Now rumor mills are talking about the potential date when the device would get the most recent Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Anyway, Jelly Bean has many superb features that can beat any alternative in the world. As far as connectivity options are concerned, both the devices have advanced options like Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and more.

Price and Availability
BlackBerry has not yet announced its handset. It is only living in rumors right now. The company is to bring into life its new operating system on January 30. Hopefully, RIM may tease the Z10 and other BB 10 devices just ahead of the software release. The BB 10 devices may come for nice prices as well. Meanwhile, Galaxy S3 has been in global markets since May 2012. It is priced at around $600 SIM free and many carriers sell the device in key markets for discounts and data deals.

Specs are a rough indicator of performance, the OS has even greater importance to speed and reliability.

Thats where BB10 excels. The QNX microkernal nature makes it far easier to run faster, more reliably and consume less energy than monolithic OS’s like Android, iOS and windows which are staggering in size.

Thats why mission critical organizations like nuclear power plants and nasa use qnx instead of the other big 3, all the hardware in the world won’t help you with buggy software, you just crash quicker with faster hardware.
