This is going to be very enticing news for many of us. Apple Siri vs Microsoft Cortana is set to begin as personal assistant app for Windows Phone 8 OS is being readied for launch.
Microsoft is reportedly working on its Apple Siri and Google Now rival to pack in the next edition of Windows Phone. In fact, we were given a clue about this service through an unknown Cortana app in the screenshots of an early Windows Phone build leak back in June. It means we are most likely to get a Microsoft voice assistant app in the new edition of Windows Phone update, possibly WP 8 Blue late this year.
More details are now coming out about the Cortana voice assistant app. It is heard that the service is not going to feature only in Microsoft’s mobile operating system, but all flavors of Windows including the PC OS, tablets as well as Microsoft’s gaming device, the Xbox One. The “z” in the name of the app in the formerly leaked screenshots reportedly stood to indicate that it was a test build.
The Cortana app is now to make its official entry to the Microsoft mobile OS through the upcoming and long-touted Windows Phone Blue update. It is still not sure when the update would emerge out, some claim it might happen this fall, while some think it would arrive early next year only.
By the way, Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer has almost confirmed a feature like an exclusive voice assistant app in the name of a “service-enabled shell” that would connect a family of devices, maybe WP phones, Windows tablets, Windows PCs and Xbox One and more.
“Our UI will be deeply personalized, based on the advanced, almost magical, intelligence in our cloud that learns more and more over time about people and the world. Our shell will natively support all of our essential services, and will be great at responding seamlessly to what people ask for, and even anticipating what they need before they ask for it,” Microsoft CEO says referring to a service that looks identical to Apple Siri.
