    Apple iOS 6.1 is finally here and there are reasons to believe that it has got rousing response from Apple fans across the world. Within 24 hours of its launch the adoption level of the firmware update was as high as around 20 percent. The update for its top roducts including iPhones, iPads will make Apple products more secure, making it very difficult for hackers to attack them or take control of these devices.

    But the most important of all these features is extension of 4G LTE to many new carriers. According to Apple, iOS 6.1 adds 4G LTE support of iDevice to more carriers. Thirty six new iPhone carriers and twenty three new iPad carriers around the world will get 4G support thanks to iOS 6.1. Thus, as per Apple, “even more iPhone 5, iPad mini and iPad with Retina display users can experience ultrafast wireless performance to browse, download and stream content at blazing fast speeds.” The firmware update “brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads,” says Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior VP Worldwide Marketing. Because of iOS 6.1, the U.S. cellular service providers like AT&T, Alaska Communications and Alaska GCI, will get LTE capability for various iOS devices. In Canada, it will bring LTE support to Bell, MTS, Rogers, Telus and Sasktel. Optus and Telstra will get the high-speed net connectivity Under Down and in the U.K., Everything Everywhere (EE) will get 4G LTE.

    Another great feature is the integration of Apple’s SIRI with Fandango. The voice assistant app from Cupertino based Apple is is one of revolutionary attractions of iOS 6. Through iOS 6.1, Apple has now integrated Fandango, a U.S movie ticket vendor, with Siri so that users can now book film tickets through voice commands. If you ask Siri about the new theater release, the service will direct you to the Fandango app and bring showtimes, rates and other details about nearby theaters.  “With this new Siri feature, movie fans can quickly and easily discover the nearest theaters, find the most convenient showtimes, and buy tickets through Fandango to help make movie night perfect,” says Paul Yanover, president of Fandango.

    One more aspect of the new update is the great improvement in iTunes Match. Yet another new feature of iOS 6.1 is the capability for iTunes Match subscribers to download individual songs form iCloud cloud storage. Users can now enjoy enhanced media experience on their iDevices thanks to the feature. It is one of highly appreciated features of the Apple software update. Few more slight updates are added to the new iOS update. It comes with a new key for resetting the Advertising Identifier. As well, as previously rumored, Apple TV users can get new Bluetooth keyboard compatibility. It will boost the Apple TV experience of users as they can operate it using a Bluetooth keyboard. Above all, the company has integrated new iOS 6.1 APIs for developers so that they can incorporate the mapping database of Apple to App Store apps.
