AMU Vice Chancellor’s powers partially restored

ALIGARH: In a fresh move, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has partially restored the powers of the AMU Vice Chancellor.

In a letter addressed to the Aligarh Muslim University Registrar, the MHRD Undersecretary, Mr. Jugal Singh clarified that the University may appoint Deans and Chairmen as per Statute 7(1) and 8(1) of the Statutes of the University.

Similarly, the University may also release funds to the CPWD and other contractors who have already been appointed for carrying out the works at the University and its Centres as per the terms and conditions of the contract and the provisions of GFR, he added.

The matter relating to appointment of guest faculties/temporary teachers is under consideration and is hoped to be communicated in due course of time.

A large section of the University community has welcomed the step and hoped that the curbs imposed on the University will be removed to help create a right atmosphere of growth and efficient functioning of the University.
