ALIGARH: Expressing his condolence over the demise of APJ Abdul Kalam, The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd.) said that Dr. Kalam was the champion of learning. He always be our beacon. May his soul rest in paradise Ameen.

Dr. APJ Kalam was conferred upon the Honorary D.Sc. Degree on 18th June, 2008 in the 58th Annual Convocation of the Aligarh Muslim University.

Delivery the Annual Convocation, Dr. Kalam expressed his wishes to all the members of AMU for success in their vision of developing quality human resource required the transferring India into a developed nation before 2020.

He said that the establishment of Aligarh Muslim University by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was part of India’s intellectual and social renaissance in the 20th century.

During his two days visit to this Institution, he also interacted with students at Kennedy Hall on June 17, 2008. Dr Kalam, also inaugurated a computer lab in Ahmedi School for visually challenged.
