AMU to go for accreditation of its healthcare services including JN Medical College
ALIGARH: Encouraged by the grading by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) after the visit of its Peer Team in February last and in view of its impact on the academic and research activities of the university, the Aligarh Muslim University has decide to go for assessment and accreditation of all its healthcare services also.
For this purpose, the Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has considered National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Hospital Services (NABH) for assessment of all healthcare services of the University including JN Medical College, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, Medical Attendance Scheme, University Health Services and the Health Services for Resident Girls.
The NABH is an Institutional Member, Board Member and Member of Accreditation Council of International Society of Quality in Healthcare (ISQua). NABH is also on the Board of the Asian Society for Quality in Healthcare (ASQua), besides being a constituent of the Quality Council of India (QCI).
Highlighting the significance of the assessment and accreditation of the University healthcare services, the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah said, â€œAccreditation of the University Healthcare Services by the NABH, a constituent of the Quality Council of India, will enable us to improve the services and facilities at JN Medical College. This will be beneficial not only to the AMU community but also the patients coming from the city, nearby localities and surrounding districtsâ€.
In order to manage and prepare the accreditation road map, Gen. Shah has constituted a Steering Committee under the Chairmanship of Prof. S. Abrar Hasan, Department of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, with Prof. Khalid Sherwani of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as its Convener. The other members of the Committee include Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell or his representative, Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS, JNMC, Prof. Amanullah Khan, Department of Surgery, Prof. Zulfia Khan, Retired, Department of Community Medicine and Dr. Tabish Khan, Department of Community Medicine as President RDA.
