AMU Swimming Club concludes Open Championship

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Swimming Club concluded its First Open Swimming Championship 2015, in which university and various Aligarh based school students participated.

In the Men event of 100 Meters Back Stroke, Atiq Ahmad, Sameer Iqbal and Tayyab Shahid secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. While in the 100 Meters Breast Stroke, Atiq Ahmad and Tayab Shahid secured 1st and 2nd positions respectively.

In the Group I, in which participants of 15, 16 and 17 years of age participated, the 100 meters Back Stroke event was won by Suhaib Sherwani, while Mohd Wahid and Junaid Askari were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the 100 Meters Breast Stroke, Mohd Usaid won the event in the group while Saqib Javed and Junaid Askari were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the Group II, in which participants of 13 and 14 years of age participated, Talha Ahmad won the event of 50 Meters Free Style, while Mohd Ayaam and Aditya Madav bagged 2nd and 3rd positions. In the 100 Meters Back Stroke event, Mohd Arish, Talha Ahmad and Mohd Adil won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. In the 50 Meters Back Stroke, Mohd Ayaan, Talha Ahmed and Mohd Arish bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Professor Mohammad Shoaib Zaheer, Secretary, University Games Committee and President of AMU Swimming Club, Dr Mohammad Wasif said that a large number of participants with their parents were present in the championships.

The President of AMU Swimming Club, Dr Wasif and Secretary AMU Games Committee, Prof Shoaib congratulated the winners of the championships.

The University Swimming Coach, Mr Ali Mohsin and Lifeguard, Mr Mohd Mansoor devoted their time and energy to make the championships successful.
