AMU signs MoU with Iranian Culture House in New Delhi


    ALIGARH: A memorandum of Understanding between the Centre of Advance Study in History of the Aligarh Muslim University and the Iranian Universities and Institutions was signed at the Iran Culture House, New Delhi. The Iranian Cultural Counselor, Dr. Karim Najafi, who is also a well recognized historian, signed the MoU on behalf of the Iranian Universities in the presence of Prof. Tariq Ahmed, Chairman and Coordinator and Dr. Syed Ali Nadeem Rezavi, Deputy Coordinator, Centre of Advanced Study in History.

    Addressing the signing ceremony, Dr. Najafi hoped that the exchange programme would be initiated very soon between AMU and Iranian institutions. Dr. Karim also presented a number of Iran Culture House publications to the representatives of the CAS in History for the departmental library. A number of publications of the Department of History, AMU were also handed over to the Cultural Counselor.

    As per the MoU signed the CAS in History, AMU would be undertaking not only joint research ventures but also exchange of faculty members, research scholars between the holding of seminars, conferences, lectures as well as refresher courses for faculty and students in study of classical Persian.

    The MoU would go a long way in furthering the growth and development of a department, which already has a reputation of being a centre of excellence in the field of Medieval Indian History.
