AMU PVC, Brig. Ali visits Harvard Medical School

ALIGARH: As part of his visit to US institutions and meeting responsible persons to discuss prospects of educational cooperation with the Aligarh Muslim University, Brigadier Syed Ahmad Ali (Retd.), Pro-Vice Chancellor, AMU met Professor Tayyaba Hasan at Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School. Mrs. Rizwana Ali and members of Boston based Aligarh Alumni Association of New England (AAANE) Dr. Ashraf Khan, Syed Masarrat Ali, Noman Siddiqi, Amjed Parwez and Mr. Ali Rizvi accompanied Brig. Ali during this visit.

Professor Tayyaba Hasan, who is one of the six recipients of global cancer initiative funded by the National Cancer Institute, leads a programme in Photodynamic therapy in cancer. Professor Hasan who has chosen AMU to take her research programme in cancer for sentimental reasons because of her family affiliation with the AMU, had a wider choice to conduct her research anywhere in the world. Prof. Hasan’s global research programme on evaluation of photodynamic therapy in oral cancer will be based at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) and rural areas around Aligarh. Professor Abrar Hasan, Department of ENT and Dr. Shahid Ali, Department of Radiation Oncology will be Co-Principal investigators for the study.

Brigadier Ahmad Ali thanked Prof. Tayyaba Hasan for choosing AMU to conduct her research and assured full cooperation, necessary resources and administrative support in conducting the study.
