AMU Polytechnic students excel at UTKARSH 2016

Aligarh: The students of the University Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University won several prizes in UTKARSH 2016 (Inter-Polytechnic Sports Meet) organized by University Polytechnic, GLA University. The Meet was held at the GLA University Campus, Mathura, which included events of Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Chess, Badminton, Football and Table Tennis.

AMU Polytechnic team won Gold medals in Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Chess and Foot Ball while winning silver medals in Volley Ball and Badminton. The AMU Polytechnic Cricket team reached the semi-finals in the Cricket event.

Meanwhile, AMU’s Mr Arbaz Khan bagged the best player award for his performance in the Basket Ball event.

The teams, which took part in the UTKARSH 2016 were selected by Mr Mohammad Yunus Khan, Assistant Professor, University Polytechnic. Mr Khan was helped by Mr Shaukat Rafi during the Sports Meet at Mathura.

While congratulating the team members for their achievements, Mr Khan pointed out, “it was for the first time that team of the University Polytechnic participated in any such Sport Tournament outside university campus”.

He added: “Performance of the AMU Polytechnic team was remarkable and appreciated by all.”

Principal of the University Polytechnic, AMU, Prof Syed Iqbal Ali congratulated the winning students. He hoped that the students of the Polytechnic will continue to bring laurels to their Alma Mater.
