AMU Placement Office organizes College to Corporate H R Meet
Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Training and Placement Office (General) today organized â€˜College to Corporateâ€™ H R Meet at the Kennedy Hall Auditorium.
Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) in a recorded video message to the visiting, leading HRs of various corporate houses said that the presence of HRs from all over the country shows that the AMU is successful in attracting employers. While welcoming the HRs, General Shah said that AMU students once hired, will not let their employers down.
Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (retd), Pro Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University began his address by saying that with the presence of a large number of head honchos of the industry, â€˜today is a red letter day for AMUâ€™. He added that the H R Meet gives him a great and a proud feeling and it is a great achievement for AMU TPO (General), Mr Saad Hameed.
Brigadier Ali shared that for the past few years, he held many meetings with all the departmental training and placement offices and a day like today was awaited. â€œThe success of our university depends on the employment of all our passing out students; we want all our students to have respectable jobs after they leave this university,â€ said Brigadier Ali.
Brigadier Ali said that since the past three years, there is a rise in the campus placements. â€œThe rise in jobs is because of the excellence of our students and the determination of our TPOs and soon we will be having 100 percent job placements for our students,â€ said the Pro Vice Chancellor pointing out that AMU was recently ranked number fourth academic institution in the India Today university rankings.
While addressing the HRs, Brgadier Ali said that AMU is â€˜unique by a thousand milesâ€™ as its students are selected after very fierce competitive exams. â€œIn the recently held entrance for class XI admissions, 1,100 students were selected from 38, 000 applicants and 75 external students were selected in the MBBS course out of 64, 000 applicants.
He further told the HRs that AMU students have a reasonably high IQ levels with very high emotional portions and they will prove absolutely dedicated to the jobs offered to them. He concluded by saying that AMU students do not have high expectations, they just want the HRs to take decisions of hiring them with objectivity. Brigadier Ali also felicitated the visiting HRs with mementos.
While delivering a special address, Mr Mohd Naseem Yunus, Group MD, GSA Cargo Services, who is also AMU alumnus said that this H R Meet makes him realize that Sir Syed Ahmad Khanâ€™s dreams of bringing people in the light of knowledge have become a reality. He further shared his experiences of being a AMU student from 1986 to 1991.
Dr Rajesh Tripathi, Vice President and Head H R, GHCL in his keynote address shared his views on leadership qualities and the importance of persona. He said that for success in life, students need to exercise their emotional, rational and ethical parts of the brain by building trust, confidence, respect, character, technical skills and honesty. He further said that it is important to have passion, ambition, persistence, personal values and adaptability to become successful professionals and entrepreneurs.
Earlier in the event, Dr Asif Akhtar, TPO, Department of Business Administration welcomed the visiting HRs and informed the audience that the HR Meet will have two technical sessions in which students will get to interact with the top people of the industry.
Addressing on the objective of the Meet, Dr Mohd Shamim, TPO, Department of Commerce (MFC) said that the Meet aims at â€˜providing a platformâ€™ to students for reaching the industry and to bridge the gap in between the students and the employers. He further said that this Meet will motivate students in taking rights steps as they will meet â€˜people with impact factorâ€™. â€œStudents will learn about pre-requisites of entering the corporate world by the top people of the industry,â€ said Dr Shamim.
While, the felicitation of HRs was coordinated by Mr Shaad Khan; Dr Nasim, Department of Social Work proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Aiman Sehra conducted the programme. A newsletter â€˜AMUSEâ€™ edited by AMU students was also released during the event.
