AMU news today: VC asks professor not to utter anti-madrasa sentiments
ALIGARH: The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, in a letter to Dr. Waseem Raja, Associate Professor, Department of History, has advised â€œnot to participate in any slander against Madrasasâ€ as their denigration would hurt the entire Muslim community.
Gen. Shah said that an investigation was being made if WhatsApp could be hacked as was maintained by Dr. Raja in his submission to the Vice Chancellor after a floodgate of opposition was opened against his alleged comments against Madrasas.
The Vice Chancellor said that Madarsas are one of the largest educational network in the country and have done yeomen service in the field of education amongst marginalized section of Muslim society. He said that the teachers and students of Madrasas have always maintained the highest standards of discipline and probity.
They have never been involved in any scandals and any adverse reflection on their morals is improper, unfair and unjust, added Gen. Shah.
Gen Shah maintained that AMU has always encouraged Madrasa students to pursue higher education on graduating from Madrasas and adverse comments reportedly made by Dr. Raja have hurt the sentiments of the entire Alig community.
