AMU News Today: UGC HRDC, launches new courses
Aligarh: The University Grants Commission (UGC) Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University has launched three new UGC sponsored courses.
So far, around 150 newly appointed University/College teachers have enrolled for the Orientation Programme 137 in which Human Rights and Subject Refresher courses in Environmental Studies under Special Summer School will be conducted.
Speaking at the Inaugural function, Professor Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director, UGC HRDC, AMU welcomed the participants and explained the modalities of the course.
He said that eminent resource persons will be engaging sessions during the course and some educational visits will also be held.
Prof Kidwai reiterated the values of inclusiveness in AMU and said that because of its emphasis on quality education, AMU is ranked high by international ranking agencies like the Times Higher Education, UK.
Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Professor, UGC HRDC said that more that 100 out station participants are residing in the HRDC hostels to attend various courses.
She added that along with AMU faculty, the participants include teachers from Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh.
Respective course coordinators of Summer School Human Rights and SRC Environmental Studies Professor A P Vijapur, Department of Political Science, AMU and Dr Arshad Hussain, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering Section, University Boyâ€™s Polytechnic, AMU were also present on the occasion.
