AMU health officials to take preventive measures for Dengue

Aligarh: The office of the University Health Officer, Aligarh Muslim University has requested all the university departments, halls of residences and offices to take necessary measures for preventing dengue in the university premises.

In a recently issued notice, the University Health Office, Dr Ali Jaffer Abedi has urged the university officials to make sure that the desert coolers are not filled with water and to scrub them before refilling.

The notice further urges university officials to make sure that the air-condition outlets should not accumulate and all the overhead tanks should be tightly covered by lids. “The old tanks lying unused need to be removed to avoid collection of rain water,” stated the notice.

The UHO has requested the removal of junk materials including unused tyres from the rooftops and backyards of offices besides making sure that the flowers pots are always clean.

“In case of construction, proper care should be taken to not allow stagnation of water more than a week and to avoid mosquito bites, employees are advised to wear full sleeved clothing during from July to October, 2016,” stated the notice.

The UHO has also assured a comprehensive plan for spraying of insecticides and regular cleaning of open drains and timely removal of garbage in university campus.
