AMU Dental College Associate Professor performs complicated surgery
Aligarh, July 31: A complicated â€˜Trabecular Ossifying Fibromaâ€™ tumor was recently operated in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Z A Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University by Dr G S Hashmi, Associate Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr Hashmi confirmed that the surgery was successfully performed on a 10-year-old male, Tahseel Khair.
Meawnhile, Professor R K Tiwari, Principal, Z A Dental College congratulated Dr Hashmi and his team for performing the surgery.
â€œThe patient had come with his family complaining of a progressive swelling on the left side of his face and it was after a laboratory investigation and incisional biopsy that we came to know of a trabecular pattern of ossifying fibroma on his face,â€ said Dr Hashmi.
He added that the tumor was a complicated variant of ossifying fibroma, which was rapidly progressing with high recurrence rate.
Dr Hashmi said that the resection of the tumor was planned under the G A Weber Fergusson incision.
â€œA successful resection followed after the process to expose the lesion was done,â€ he further said.
The team, which assisted Dr Hashmi in the surgery included Dr Sajjad A Rahman, Dr Shahna Ali, Dr Kaleem Ansari, Dr Satish and Sisters Faiza and Nazish.
