It was a sort of cakewalk for this 23-year old boxer. It was a one-sided fight as Canelo Alvarez vs Alfredo Angulo highlights prove it. Canelo next fight against Manny Pacquiao speculations already seem to be everywhere.
The fight between Canelo Alvarez and Alfredo Angulo has sparked a debate after referee Tony Weeks stopped the fight in the 10th round. It was in this round that the high drama unfolded at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and the crowd saw how Canelo unleashed a series of attack on Alferdo.
From the start of the fight, it the fight had witnesses ups and downs. But Alferdo had not given up until round 10 when he was at the receiving end. Alferdo (22-4, 18 KO) was cornered and took on most of the punches from his rival. The fight turned to be one-sided as Canelo (43-1-1, 31 KO) continued his attack. And as it appeared that the fight would go in his favour, referee Tony interfered. The interference of the referee in a crucial moment of the fight sparked debate with some in support of him and a few expressing their unhappiness. The critics argued that had the game not been stopped at that crucial moment the results would have been different.
Despite the criticism, the NSAC chairman defended Tony’s decision. He said that through the match the referee was consulting the doctor and was in a position to find the mental conditions of both the fighters. And hence his decision should come under scrutiny, he claimed.
