Al-Azhar experts say marrying ISIS fighters for few hours un-Islamic and haram (forbidden)

The biggest center of Islamic learning not just in the Middle East but across the world, Al-Azhar University, has said that marrying for just a few hours with an intention to break it after a couple of hours is an un-Islamic practice.

There are reports that members of ISIS follow such marriage in areas under their control. The issue has been widely discussed in the media. Now Al-Azhar, the most famous Islamic seat of learning has come out against it.

Experts of Islamic theology associated with the university said that it is unlawful in Islam for a marriage between members of ISIS, and women affiliated to them, for just a few hours before then divorcing and marrying once again merely for sexual purposes.ISIS WOMEN BRIGADE

The Cairo, Egypt-based Al-Azhar Observatory said that marriage in Islam was lawful when it served ‘supreme and honest purposes.’ According to Islamic rule, marriage is an agreement of mutuality and commitment between a man and woman. The report by the observatory also stated that sexual attacks ISIS carried out in Iraq and Syria against Yazidi women living in Sinjar and Nineveh was an ‘outrageous behavior’ according to the Islamic sharia law.

It is unclear if ISIS muftis will listen to what Al-Azhar experts have said. ISIS claims that the abolition of slavery will lead to the prevalence of adultery because the alternative is not available anymore, slavery having been previously common across various nations. The report added that Islam prohibited temporary marriages because the latter distorted the woman’s real image in the religion, making her an object of cheap and random pleasure passed from one man to another. The report added that it also tarnished a Muslim’s image as it projected greed and lust, an ideology not accepted under sharia law. The observatory stressed that Islam forbids the enslavement of men and women as they are looked upon as superior to all other creatures.
