ABVP on chain hunger strike in Nahan

Nahan:  The state government is claming to make the Himachal Pradesh an educational hub but it has yet to provide the building to one of the oldest college of the state. A long pending issue of construction of college building has again been cropped up with the beginning of the current academic session. The student front ABVP supposed to be the associate of BJP ideology today begun the chain hunger strike in the campus on the issue. The activist of ABVP also shouted slogans against the college administration as well as state government for the failure on the issue.
The college founded in 60’s is being deprives with its own building, due to inadequate space in the college building the students of the district are also being deprived with the professional courses. Last year the ABVP had promised to resolve the issue, failing in resolving the issue ABVP had also announced to withdrawn the candidates from SCA polls this year. Due to the increasing strengthen the students are being forced to sit on floors for appearing in the exam.  The state government is yet to intervene into the conflict between the local municipal council and education department over the land identified for the construction of the college building. The education department wanted to get the land free of cost, whereas council administration is demanding minimum price of rupees 5 lakh rupees per bigha. Thus issue is hanging between education department and municipal council.  It is also learnt that around 3.5 crorer rupees is lying unspent in public works department for the construction of college building since past two years. On the other hand college principal N.K. thammi admitted that there was inadequate space for running the classed up to post graduation. He said that the college administration was raising the issue at the appropriate platform. However Executive officer S.S. Negi of municipal council said that the council can not give the land free of cost to education department, even a clarification from the government has also been obtained.
