ABK High School kick-starts â€˜Sports Weekâ€™
Aligarh: The ABK High School, Aligarh Muslim University today inaugurated its â€˜Sports Week,â€™ which was attended by Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal, Jawahar Lal Medical College, AMU as the Chief Guest and Prof Qayyum Hussain, Manager, ABK School as the Guest of Honour.
Prof Mansoor hoisted the AMU flag and lighted the torch to declare the Sports Week open. The Chief Guest also released pigeons to kick-start the event.
Appreciating the performance of ABK High students, Prof Mansoor said that he has seen a great and positive change in the school.
Stressing that sports are significant to school curriculums, Prof Mansoor urged that schools should not ignore sports or consider it as a waste of time.
Prof Mansoor said that it is hoped that the school will keep up with the aim to improve further. â€œIt is the responsibility of the teachers and the principal to keep working on improving ABK High School,â€ said Prof Mansoor, who added that a special focus in all schools should be on maintaining discipline.
He further said that the teachers must keep on motivating students to perform well and shine out in different areas.
While concluding the address, Prof Mansoor congratulated the Principal, teachers and students for organizing the annual â€˜Sports Week.â€™
A march-past of student representatives of different ABK High School houses followed soon after the inaugural ceremony.
Welcoming the guests, Dr Mohd Abbas Niazi, Principal, ABK High School pointed out, â€œlike the sports weeks in previous years, this year will have the same enthusiasm and zeal in organizing the event.
Dr Niazi stated that the ABK High School students have been winning prizes by participating in various sports events. â€œRecently our student, Mohd Ali brought laurels after winning the first prize in the Inter Hall Swimming Championship,â€ said Dr Niazi.
He added that teachers and students are working hard to turn ABK High School into the best school in Aligarh.
Dr Niazi also spoke about various round-the-clock co-curricular activities, which keep on happening in the school throughout the year. He thanked Prof Qayyum Husain, Manager of the school for his dedication and hard work.
Prof Husain emphasized the importance of Sports activities saying that Sports is important for the vital activities of the human body. â€œA healthy mind lives in a healthy body,â€ he added.
The house incharges Mr Feroz Khan, Mr Tabrez Alam, Dr Shamimuddin and Mrs Farhana Sadiq were also present along with the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school. The guests were also welcomed with speeches and songs performed by the school students.
Mr Rais Ahmad was the Coordinator of the programme.
