New Delhi: Rupees 3119.35Â croreÂ haveÂ been released to various States under theÂ RashtriyaÂ KrishiÂ VikasÂ Yojana (RKVY) during 2011-12 as on today.
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Total allocation for this year is Rs. 7729.24Â croreÂ as against Rs. 6755.00Â croreÂ in 2010-11. It includes Rs. 5250.87Â croreÂ under normal RKVY and Rs. 2500Â croreÂ under 9 sub-schemes. Seven new sub-schemes have been introduced from the current financial year. These are initiative on vegetable clusters, accelerated fodder development programme,Â rainfedÂ area development programme, promotionÂ ofÂ Â oilÂ palm,Â nutri-cereals, National Mission for Protein Supplements and saffron mission.Â Â Â Two sub-schemes, which were introduced last year, are for Bringing Green Revolution to Eastern India and Special Initiative for Pulses and Oilseeds inÂ DrylandÂ Areas by organising 60, 000 Oilseeds and Pulses Villages inÂ RainfedÂ Areas.
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The RKVY was launched in August, 2007 to achieve 4% annual growth in the agriculture sector by a holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors. The scheme aims at incentivising States to increase public investment in agriculture and allied sectors and enable them to generate additional growth in agriculture and allied sectors through better planning and by undertaking appropriate growth-oriented projects to achieve this goal.
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The scheme has succeeded in incentivising States to increase their share in agriculture and allied sectors and thereby imparting a definite momentum to agriculture. Rs.Â 17735.45Â croreÂ haveÂ been released as on today under the scheme since its inception as against total allocation of Rs. 22955.35Â crore.
