This was a match that was destined to be won by the United States. This is a team that has won the tournament the maximum time and no one thought Honduras to actually put a semblance of a fight.

While the first assumption was true, the second was not. While as predicted the team USA won the match, but it was close and the best the US men’s soccer team could manage was 2-1 in its favor. And in the course of the match, Honduras ensured that the US had to be watchful for every second into the match.

The Group A match of the 2015 Gold Cup was never expected to go another way and the US team must be very happy that it didn’t go. For me, I’m excited to be part of the team, trying to push to win the Gold Cup, be a part of the Confederations Cup. I got to experience being captain in the World Cup. For me, that was something special and I’ll always kind of remember, but it’s never been a big thing for me to be captain”.
