Norway and Canada are both marching ahead. 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Medal Count. Today’s Schedule, results & live streaming

With the Sochi Games moving forward everything till now has been satisfactory beyond expectation save the halfpipe. Snowboarders who have tried and tested it are not happy. Some have even called it dangerous crappy. The criticism would have gone unnoticed had two-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White not voiced his concern about the halfpipe at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

However, pipe builder John Melville has different opinion on the issue. He has blamed the weather. Also, he has put the onus on the Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS) for putting some time restriction on him.

The blame game doesn’t end here as the OBS too stepped into the debate of crappy halfpipe. If we go by its statement then it has tried to wash off its hands from the issue by tossing an argument: OBS has no idea of any such restrictions. The International Ski Federation (FIS) too has come under the lens. After listening to snowboarders’ grievances, the International Olympic Committee said it was all FIS’s responsibility.

A two-time Olympic medalist American Hannah Teter said: “It is a little dangerous. I saw more people fall today than I have all season. It’s just dangerous because it’s crappy, you know?”  All told efforts have been started to address the issue. However, it is not known how long it will take to get things going.

White expressed his hope that things may be fixed. “I’m hoping they can do whatever they can to make it a better pipe. It’s hard to get here and see this and feel the pressure. Not so much myself, I won’t name who it was, but there was a girl in front of me very distraught to be all the way here to Russia with the Olympics and really having a hard time with this pipe. But I’m hoping for the best.”
