Chicago Blackhawks’s victory against Los Angeles Kings was scintillating, to say the least. It came late, but came swiftly and when came, it was so unbelievable and so hard fought that the winners Blackhawks were over the seventh heaven. For them, or for anyone else in the tournament, beating a formidable team like Los Angeles Kings is a dream. And the dream came true today.
But Chicago Blackhawks must thank their luck and the flawless performance of none other than Patrick Kane who came from nowhere to do the miraculous finishing work and won the day for his team and thousands of fans who were watching the game and awaiting the results. When the match began, not many had given Chicago Blackhawks much of a chance against a formidable tried and tested team like Los Angeles Kings. But a good performance from the team and exceptional individual performances can win the match for any team against the best of the best.
The match was important for both the teams as both had worked really hard to come this far. It was the last chance for both the teams to enter tournament final this year, and true they came, with the best game of the tournament thus far. It was fiercely contested. But as they say the best wins the game, truly the best won the game and got a shot to the final match of the Stanley Cup finals. Patrick Kane’s stunning performance at the end of the game gave his side more than to cheer. Not many had given Chicago Blackhawks such an exciting win and a shot at the finals. And here they got thanks in part to Kane’s wonderful show of top performance and his team’s consistency throughout the game. Los Angeles Kings are no longer the kings of the NHL. They are the lesser mortals like anyone else in the NHL and they can be beaten. Yes and that seems to have added to the winning team’s enthusiasm all the more.
There is no doubt that in a high stake game, the happiness and disappointment of failure can drive many crazy. Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane was so excited that words or for that matter coherent sentences were sort of difficult to come. “Right now I think it’s almost like I’m in a different zone, like in the Twilight Zone or something…I’m kind of out of it. It’s definitely a good feeling, though”, he just managed to say after the exciting and favorable end to the match. He was mobbed by his friends who were pulling from all the four sides. It was a great seen that is seen only when unexpected things happen.
Though it was a great performance from Chicago Blackhawks, but Los Angeles were not easy to be beaten. Los Angeles managed to recover after trailing 2-0 in the first period and 3-2 late in regulation in the longest game in franchise history. Mike Richards and Anze Kopitar both had a goal and an assist, and Jonathan Quick finished with 31 saves. But this was a great win and the best of the best performance from Chicago Blackhawks who beat the Los Angeles Kings in five games in the Western Conference finals. Now the team is going to host the Eastern champion Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the best-of-seven championship series three days from now. Boston have been unbeaten in the tournament thus far and they easily beat Pittsburgh Penguins two days ago. “It’s a special couple places. The tradition of the Bruins and the Hawks is special…I’m sure, you know, the rivalry could return instantly come Game 1. I think it’s good for the league. It’s good for hockey. Two great hockey markets. We’re very excited to be a part of it”, Joel Quenneville, Chicago coach said after the result of Blackhawks and Kings came out. Things are exciting right now for the winners and they are on a high before heading to the next match Wednesday.
