In what can be called an awesome moment for Samsung, its flagship the Galaxy S4 is able to outsell its key rival Apple iPhone 5 in the U.S in May. A line of U.S. carriers have outsold their Galaxy S4 versions over iPhone 5. It is for the first time that a Samsung Galaxy S device is outselling its chief rival in the U.S. stores. Indeed, the Galaxy S4’s unprecedented performance last month in the country has helped achieve this milestone.
Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint are the major three carriers that could sell the Galaxy S4 over their iPhone 5 versions in May. The Apple flagship fell into the second position, by the way. AT&T, the former exclusive iPhone vendor, is the only carrier where the Android beast couldn’t jump ahead iPhone 5 in sales last month.
It is indeed not good news for Apple that is already undergoing big stress in the floods of a lot of new and advanced Android devices. The U.S. has long been a bastion of huge sales for the Cupertino-based tech firm, but its loss of dominance there surely opens up the critical situation it is in. It is surely pointing to the need for more advanced iOS and iPhone variants from the tech maker.
Well, with the 2013 edition of the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is near, Apple fans are vastly waiting for something new from the firm. The new iOS 7 and iPhone 5S should be some advanced products that are capable enough to lock horns with the new line of Android devices. We are still not clear what new stuffs Apple has inside the sleeves for unveiling at its upcoming developer conference.
No iPhone 5S at WWDC
It is nearly sure that Apple won’t be surfacing a new iPhone at WWDC 2013. The company might be calling in media persons for another press event in July or August to put its new iPhone variant for display. It was the practice that the company followed for the last couple of years, a move different the tradition it followed in 2010 and previous years.
But, what can be the new iPhone? It is a question of big concern, today, because Apple should design the new iPhone with a set of great features to make it a real rival to the domineering Android phones like the Galaxy S4, HTC One and more. Rumor mills have different explanations about the possible next-gen iPhone. Some say that it would just keep the same display size, while others argue it would have a new 4.5-inch big display.
Actually, the market seeks for far larger devices now. Success of Galaxy S4 simply refers to the fact that there is a big fervor toward the large screen phones. So, can an iPhone with 4 or plus inches stand out the big competition? It is a worthy question, but some analysts think that Apple would never go behind the trend of the market. Being a trendsetter, it might try to bring out a new design, style and perfection to its devices.
There is also a claim that a cheap iPhone is also in the works. To serve the growing number of budget conscious customers, Apple seems to have taken a revolutionary step to roll out a cheaper variant of iPhone. Though Apple hasn’t yet confirmed the device, rumors have even come forward with its possible specs and size. To be priced at around $400 SIM free, the low price iPhone would be a perfect partner for the kind of customers, who want an iPhone for a small price.
