It is going to be a very hectic for Bollywood’s top star. Here we take a look at Shah Rukh Khan, his forthcoming film Chennai Express, his surgery and Salman’s absence on Eid
Shah Rukh Khan may not be taking the place of Salman Khan in the super hit reality show Bigg Boss’ 7th edition. But he is preparing to make tens of crore rupees more on Sallu’s expense.
Not literally. Shah Rukh Khan is set to release his forthcoming film Chennai Express on the eve of Eid. The occasion always brings huge returns for Sallu Bhai, but as he was not releasing his film on the occasion due to his schedule having gone haywire due to legal cases, his treatment that is continuing in the US and several other issues, SRK rightly jumped to make launch the film on this occasion.
Salman Khan cannot let go one of the most successful reality shows in India, Bigg Boss, that has seen its TRP go up and up ever since Salman Khan got associated with it. Prior to his joining the show it was just a small success, but its profile and viewership has gone up substantially since he joined it as due to his presence, a sizeable chunk of his fan base also started watching it.
In the meantime, Shah Rukh Khan may benefit from Salman Khan’s film’s absence in theatres at that time. Chennai Express, a film from the ace director Rohit Shetty who has proved his mettle by giving back to back hits including the famous Golmaal series, is highly anticipated to be a major 2013 blockbuster. Being produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s home production Red Chillies, Chennai Express the film has lead roles being played by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, a second collaboration of the lead pair after 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om. The film also marks the first collaboration between Khan and Shetty, who has remained Ajay Devgun loyalist until now.
When it comes to the film’s story, Chennai Express is about a man’s journey from Mumbai to Rameshwaram and what happens along the way. While Shahrukh is back again with his favorite onscreen name Rahul, Deepika’s character’s name is Priya. The film also stars Sathyaraj, Manorama and Kapil Sharma in supporting roles Rani Mukherjee makes a special appearance in the film. It may be recalled that Khan and Shetty had originally planned to team up for a remake of the 1982 film Angoor, starring Sanjveev Kumar . In fact after his critically acclaimed Singham, the director had begun writing the script of the film but left it mid-way. Incidentally, he had the script of Chennai Express ready to be narrated to Khan as a back-up due to the difficulty of obtaining the actor’s filming dates. Upon being narrated the script, Khan was impressed with the idea of Chennai Express and agreed to star in it before the Angoor remake. With this development, the remake of Angoor was pushed back.
Shah Rukh Khan’s films are not received as well as they were received say five years ago. Meanwhile the film that has been shot extensively in Munnar, Goa and Wai would be clashing with another major release Akshay kumar starrer Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again, being produced by Balaji Films. According to the reports, Shahrukh kha is taking a keen interest in the film, from whom he has high hopes, after getting a lukewarm response from Yash Chopras’s last directorial venture Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Recently it was reported that the initial music score developed by composer-duo Vishal-Shekhar didn’t impress the actor much. A source close to the film says that SRK then asked director Rohit Shetty to make the necessary changes. The King Khan’s dedication and interest towards the film can be gauged from the fact that the superstar has made the village Wai, the present shooting location of Chennai Express, as his base and has almost set up his home and office in the village, a few kilometers away from Mumbai. Wish you good luck King Khan.
Meanwhile reports suggest that King Khan will head to London following the Chennai Express’ to undergo eight surgery. It is really getting very tough for King Khan top cope up with the recurring pain.
